Snorkeling at Manta Point

Manta Ray

Manta Point has become the biggest tourist attraction for the travelers to swim with Mantas in a crystal-clear sea on Komodo Island. It is located within Komodo National Park, Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Manta Rays can be easily spotted during feeding time, thus becoming one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. The visitors can do a variety of activities when visiting the Manta Point. We recommend snorkeling near the Manta Rays because it can take you face-to-face with these giant ocean animals. Besides that, you can also encounter the abundant marine life with hundreds of fish species.

Although Manta Rays are harmless to humans, approaching them too closely can disrupt their natural behaviors. So, make sure to maintain a safe distance with the animals.

The best access to get to Manta Point is by using the boat tour from Labuan Bajo, and it usually takes approximately 45 minutes to reach from the main harbor. You can get to Labuan Bajo by flight from Denpasar, Bali or Jakarta (Soekarno Hatta International Airport). A flight from Bali will take about 1 ½ hour and 2 hours from Jakarta/CGK.

What is the best season to visit Manta Point?

April through September is often considered the ideal time to dive with Mantas because of the nice weather. From an article on the website Komodo Touristic, if you want to see a lot of Manta Rays, visit the area from December to February. However, since it’s the rainy season, most weather is windy and the velocity of the current is far stronger. Pick a clear day with lower winds if you can get the chance to swim with Manta Rays.
